Talking Cloud with Office 365 MVP David Greve

Office 365 MVP David Greve

How long have you been an MVP?
6 Months

How did you first start in community?
I’ve been an active part of the community for many years now. In the past few years, I’ve helped
run a SharePoint User Group as well as found a UC user group. My core skills are primarily UC
focused, which has lead me to both BPOS and Office 365.

Which technical community or communities are you most active in (where can people find
you)?

You can find my blog at https://blogs.pointbridge.com. I’m also active on Office 365 community sites
and I often speak at cloud events.

What’s the best technical tip you have today for implementing a cloud deployment?
Business objectives and technical constraints often drive the goals of a migration, where the focus
on user experience is minimized. When the user experience is minimized, migration teams find
themselves struggling to support the large amount of support issue that arise. If you improve your
focus on user experience and include its measurement as high as your business and technical
goals, you will have completed a successful migration.

When considering using the Cloud, what do you tell people if they aren’t sure about moving
to the Cloud?
Where would you rather focus your time? Keeping the infrastructure lights on or focusing on the
real issues, which are improving efficiencies within the business? Managing a server is not terribly
exciting. Improving someone’s way of doing business, coupled with costs savings, is an
accomplishment.

Do you have a blog/website link to Cloud related Tips or deployment stories you would like to
share?

I speak about the user experience in this 2 part video blog.
