What’s coming in the next Opalis release?
In Q4 CY2010 we will be releasing an update to Opalis 6.2.2. This new release contains two very important updates that will bring the System Center Datacenter story together, and provide us the platform to enable the Dynamic Datacenter. This is the platform for a Private Cloud, and provides a path to the Public Cloud.
The next release of System Center Opalis brings support for the latest Windows Server Platform, Windows Server 2008 R2 for all roles – Integration Server, Action Service and Agent. The following platforms will now be supported:
|Platform||Client||Management Server, Operator Console, Action Server|
|Windows Server 2008 R2 (x64) NEW!||Yes||Yes|
|Windows Server 2008 (x64) NEW!||Yes||Yes|
|Windows Server 2008 (x86) NEW!||Yes||Yes|
|Windows Server 2003 SP2 (x86)||Yes||Yes|
|Windows 7 NEW!||Yes|
|Windows XP Professional SP2||Yes|
* Note that the Windows Server Core editions are not supported for any roles
System Center Integration
Four new Integration Packs will be made available for the remaining System Center products:
|Configuration Manager||2007 SP2, 2007 R2 SP2, 2007 R3 (beta)|
|Data Protection Manager||2010|
|Virtual Machine Manager||2008 R2|
These new Integration Packs, combined with the existing Operations Manager pack provide a complete solution for building and enabling the Dynamic Datacenter.
Over the coming weeks I will be posting a series of articles, drilling into these new capabilities and explaining what they mean to you and how System Center Opalis can help you Integrate, Automate and Orchestrate!
