Silverlight for the Quiksilver Pro on the Gold Coast

image I was lucky enough to help out on a very quick project the other week to build a Silverlight video player for the Quiksilver Pro surfing event, currently on the Gold Coast.

Basically we got 1 week to add Silverlight to the event site hosted by Quiksilver and the Association of Surfing Professionals.

While there wasn't much time for original design (we ripped off the player from premium.quiksilverlive.com), it was encouraging that even a designer like me, with feeble JavaScript skills, could at least put together a basic player and hook it up to video feeds in less then a day. I then handed it over to Alister Jones from Readify who worked with the Quiksilver guys to flesh out the player, implement alternate skins (for Quiksilver Pro and Roxy Pro), do some smart Silverlight and browser detection, implement full screen, overlay live scores during live heats etc etc.

Check out the site and click on the 'Live' and 'Videos' pages to see the players (and a little bit of my own JavaScript in action).
