Microsoft Expands Windows Azure Service to Brazil

Microsoft announced the expansion of Windows Azure services to Brazil, signifying Microsoft’s continued commitment to growing the global presence of Windows Azure and providing customers with local cloud service options. With the opening of this region, new and existing customers in Brazil will experience better performance through reduced latency and will have the ability to keep their data in the country.  This announcement represents our first major expansion into South America, building on our previously announced expansions into Japan, Australia, and China through our partner 21Vianet. Windows Azure services will be available in the first half of calendar year 2014.

NORAD teams with Microsoft to track Santa across the globe

Every December, the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) serves the important role of ensuring that Santa’s journey around the world is safe, and provides a place where kids can track his progress on Christmas Eve. Last year, Windows Azure powered the NORAD website and Bing Maps gave people at home an interactive visual of Santa’s whereabouts. Continuing the tradition of support it provided NORAD last year, Microsoft kicked it up a notch with this year’s Santa Tracker to provide a nostalgic, 3D Claymation look and feel so you can explore Santa’s Village to discover new games daily, music, videos and more. The site is built for modern browsers like Internet Explorer 11, meaning there are touch features and 3D.
