  • SkyGiraffe becomes first Microsoft Ventures Seed Fund investment

SkyGiraffe, a cloud company that brings mobility to the enterprise, became the first seed fund investment by Microsoft Ventures. Founded in 2012, SkyGiraffe provides a SaaS platform via Windows Azure that helps businesses deploy enterprise-grade mobile applications on any device immediately and without the need for writing code. The company is based in Tel Aviv and graduated from the Microsoft Ventures Accelerator in Israel earlier this year.

  • The Nobel Prize Goes to the Cloud with Windows Azure

This month, announcements of Nobel Prize laureates drove people from all over the globe to the Nobel Prize’s website for information about the individuals and their achievements. The website, which sees a hundredfold increase in traffic when laureates and winners are announced in October and December, previously ran on physical servers in a non-Microsoft environment. To better manage traffic peaks and control usage costs, earlier this fall the Nobel Media team decided to move to Windows Azure, taking advantage of the platform’s openness to integrate it with existing non-Microsoft servers, databases and programming. The result: A smooth transition to the cloud and a better experience for end users.
