TechNet & MSDN Revamped
We are doing some really exciting things to provide more access to Microsoft for developers and IT Pros. Here is an update from the folks on the TechNet and MSDN teams…..
Exciting news today about the revamp of the MSDN and TechNet communities for developers and IT Pros. TechNet and MSDN (
www.technet.com and www.msdn.com) are the authoritative sources of official product information and guidance on Microsoft technologies averaging 22 million visitors monthly. We strive to be the biggest and most valuable global online hub of community content and connections for Microsoft Devs and IT Pros.
The MSDN Library now allows you to connect to experts online. MSDN Library Community Content enables experts within the community to extend and enhance Microsoft product documentation with code samples, links to related resources, and more.
Updated TechNet and MSDN Forums now have a new user recognition system to reward users with points for participation and contribution. Have a look at any forum using the Thread view. Here’s an example.
All-new Developer and TechCenter designs increase the visibility of key members of the technical community, including members of Microsoft product groups and Microsoft MVPs (Most Valuable Professionals). Specific features include: Blogs aggregated from product groups, MVPs, and other key community members; featured MVPs and articles from MVPs; more frequent content updates. Check them out: Visual Basic Developer Center, SQL Server TechCenter.
The MSDN Code Gallery, available in February 2008, will allow you to get code samples from Microsoft and the developer community. You will be able to upload code, discuss, tag, form teams and download. A Translation Wiki will soon be available and will seed the website with machine-translated (MT) content which is then placed in a wiki-environment to allow the community to improve the quality of the translation.
Through enhanced TechNet and MSDN Evaluation Centers, we offer trial and beta software as well as virtual labs and virtual hard disks. And through TechNet and MSDN Spotlight we offer on-demand access to high resolution videos from our best rated IT conferences across the world.
