When switching from design view with multiple objects open, Access 2013 program hangs

Issue:

When opening multiple objects in design view and then trying to switch to other views, Access may become unresponsive. This delay can last a few seconds up to a couple of minutes.

Cause:

This is a product issue.

Work Arounds:

You may try either of the following options to work around the issue:

1. Close the property sheet before switching between views.

2. Disable the “Themes” service on your machine:

            a. From the Run command, type in services.msc

            b. Scroll down in the list of services until you find “Themes”

            c. Double click “Themes” and under the Service Status, click the Stop button.

            d. From the Startup type dropdown, select “Disabled”.

            e. Click ok and exit the services console.

Note: You must have local administrator rights to disable the Themes service.

Status:

This issue is resolved after installing the July Updates for Access 2013 as discussed in KB 3054950.
