Tip of the Day: DHCP Policy Based Assignment (PBA)

Today’s tip…

In Windows Server 2012/2012 R2, DHCP Policy Based Assignment (PBA) allows an administrator to configure policies based on information in the client DHCP request.  If the client matches the policy, then the client can be provided with IP addresses from a specific range or specific network configurations, such as a specific DNS server.  For example, wireless clients can be assigned an IP from a specific range, with a different lease duration, than wired clients on the same IP subnet.
