Snappy Windows 7 installation

Just finished installing Windows 7 on an ASUS 1000HE netbook. 23 minutes from inserting the install DVD to first boot into finished OS.

While I use this netbook for a week with Win7, a reinstall was necessary because I “found” an SSD disk, 64GB. I want the solid state disk instead of the built in 160GB Seagate drive. Why? Just for the fun of it.

How did I get the OS installed? Months ago I bought a nice little SATA-PATA to USB adapter. This in combination with an old DVD drive allowed me to boot the Windows 7 installation DVD.
