R.I.P. Jong Ku Kim

Jong Ku KimSad news today that Jong Ku Kim, a Premier Field Engineer with Microsoft Services, on Tuesday lost an 18-month battle with cancer at the age of 39. He leaves behind a wife, a seven year-old, son, family, friends, and a globe-spanning cadre of colleagues who all mourn his untimely passing.

I first met JK when he was a candidate in the third SQL Ranger rotation. He was an enthusiastic participant in our grueling program, and in our data modeling exercises in particular. He was a very happy and inquisitive person.

JK was also a valued member of the SQLRAP Accredited Engineers team, and his work and insights in that capacity will be greatly missed by colleagues and customers alike.

A fund is being formed to support JK’s family, and his son’s education. Please contact me privately if you’re interested in contributing, and I’ll hook you up.
