Earning customer loyalty is an important goal of most retailers. To gain customer loyalty, it is crucial that customers have a great experience on all touch points with the retailer's brand, starting from the time the customer begins searching for a product, to when the customer calls customer care with any questions, to when the customer interacts with the brand on social media.

Starting with the November '18 release of Dynamics 365 for Retail, we enhanced the loyalty capabilities to enable a retailer to have a flexible reward program. The enhancements will be released in three parts, with the first made available in November and the second and third to be released in December 2018 and January 2019.

Here are the features released in November:

  • Configure the group of customers—for example, wholesalers or employees—that shouldn't participate in loyalty programs.
  • Configure different earning and redemption rules for certain groups of people, such as veterans, high-value customers, or employees.
  • Automatically generate loyalty card numbers in MPOS/CPOS.
  • Define the vesting period of the loyalty points so the points become active after the predefined vesting period.
  • Block a customer and their cards, so that this customer cannot re-enroll in any loyalty program through any channel.
  • Easily find the loyalty cards associated with a customer.
  • Capture the loyalty enrollment source and loyalty enrollment date of the loyalty cards.
  • Hide certain affiliations in user-facing channels, but still enable their effect on pricing and promotions.
  • Define the maximum reward points, of a certain type, that can be available for any loyalty card during a given time.
  • Provide extension points to enable retailers to offer one-time rewards, such as free products on reaching a loyalty tier and bonus points on making a certain number of transactions.
