Instructions on testing your connector in certification


This topic contains information for certifying custom connectors in Azure Logic Apps, Power Automate, and Power Apps. Make sure you read the certification overview and have registered and submitted your custom connector with Microsoft prior to following these steps.

During certification, we'll deploy your custom connector to our Preview region, where you'll need to validate its functionality and content.

Creating an environment in the Preview region

First, you'll need to create an environment in the "Preview (United States)" region to conduct detailed testing before we deploy your connector to all public regions.

To create an environment, you'll need a Microsoft Power Automate or Power Apps license. If you don't already have a license, you can use the Power Apps trial by navigating to the Power Apps trial page and use a work or school Microsoft account to log in and sign up.

Follow the steps below to create a new environment:

  1. Go to the Power Platform Admin Center.
  2. Select New in the top left corner.
  3. Specify a name for your testing environment.
  4. If you have a Trial license, select Trial as the environment type. If you hold any other Power Automate license, select Production. Do not use Sandbox for this step.
  5. Choose Preview (United States) as the region.
  6. Ensure Create a database for this environment? is set to No.
  7. Select the Save button.

Note that trial environments expire after 30 days, and you'll need to recreate the environment with a new license in the future.

Testing your connector

Once your connector passes certification review, you'll be notified that your connector has been deployed to the "Preview" region for testing.

At this point, you should be able to see your connector by navigating to Power Automate and selecting the list of connectors. If you do not see your connector in the list of connectors, ensure that you are in the environment you created within the "Preview (United States)" region.

Note that if you are testing in Logic Apps, do so by using the West Central US location during the creation of your test Logic App.

We recommend conducting extensive testing to ensure the connector is ready to be deployed to all public regions. Create new flows in the environment and test all connector fields and operations. Ensure that you're testing the correct connector during this process. It'll be the certified version we have deployed in Preview, not your custom connector.

Note that the documentation link won't function until the connector has been fully deployed in production.

If your connector is using the OAuth2 Auth type, be sure that you've entered the proper production ClientID and ClientSecret, as this will be the final opportunity to edit it.

Once testing is complete, notify your Microsoft contact.

After testing your connector

After testing is completed, we'll deploy your connector to all public regions. This process is expected to take 7 to 10 business days as we deploy incrementally in our regions around the world. Note that we deploy all certified connectors on the "Premium" tier; however any user with a Power Automate license will be able to use a certified connector.
