Configure data flows from Dataverse to Customer Insights

This article provides information on how Microsoft Cloud for Financial Services administrators can connect their Dataverse environment to Dynamics 365 Customer Insights. Completing these steps allow you to calculate measures and segments, and to generate predictions (including retail banking churn model).

Important considerations

Data stored in online services, such as Azure Data Lake Storage, may be stored in a different location than where data is processed or stored in Customer Insights. By importing or connecting to data stored in online services, you agree that data can be transferred to and stored with Dynamics 365 Customer Insights. More information: Microsoft Trust Center

To transfer large volumes of data:

  1. Create ADLSGen2 data lake storage via Azure portal.

  2. Create a Container in your storage account that will be used as a Dataverse linked data lake for your Dataverse environment.

  3. Create a Container in your storage account that will be used as a staging Container for your Customer Insights environment.

  4. In your Power Apps maker portal, go to Azure Synapse Link > New link to data lake, and then fill in your storage account and container details. This will add the storage account and will ensure that the data is synchronized between your Dataverse environment and your data lake.

  5. Configure an Azure Data Factory pipeline to flow data from your Dataverse linked data lake into the staging Container for Customer Insights.

  6. In your Customer Insights portal, navigate to Audience insights > Data > Data sources, and then select Azure data lake storage. Give your data source a name and proceed to connect your staging Container using your Azure subscription details.
