Create a product number nomenclature for predefined product variants

This article explains how to set up a product number nomenclature for predefined product variants, and how you assign it to the appropriate product dimension group. The demo data company used to create this procedure is USMF. The new product number nomenclature is assigned to the Color and Size product dimension group. This task would typically be done by a product designer.

Create a product number nomenclature

1. Go to Product information management > Setup > Product nomenclature.
2. Select New.
3. In the Name field, enter a nomenclature name that helps to identify the target product dimension group, for example, ColorSize.
4. In the Description field, type a value.
5. Select Add.
6. Select Product master number.
7. Select Add.
8. Select Text constant.
9. In the Text field, type a value.
10. Select Add.
11. Select Color.
12. Select Add.
13. Select Text constant.
14. In the Text field, type a value.
15. Select Add.
16. Select Size.
17. Close the page.

Assign the nomenclature to a product master

1. Select Product dimension groups.
2. Select the SizeCol product dimension group.
3. Select Edit.
4. Select Yes in the Use nomenclature field.
5. In the Product variant number nomenclature field, enter or select a value.
6. Close the page.
