Assign personnel actions to workers

Applies To: Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3

If your organization uses personnel actions, you will be required to provide additional information when you perform certain activities that are related to employees.

If the personnel action request requires approval before it is finalized, it will be sent to the appropriate reviewers. Once it is finalized, the approval and rejection history is stored so that you can reference it.

Note

This topic does not apply to versions of Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 prior to cumulative update 7 for AX 2012 R2.

This feature is available only if the Personnel actions configuration key is selected.

About worker actions

The general process for entering worker actions is similar to the process used when personnel actions are not enabled, with the exception of a few extra steps, buttons, and features. This topic outlines the additional requirements and features.

Personnel action field requirements

When personnel actions are enabled, the following additional fields are required:

Field

Description

Personnel action number

The unique identification number assigned to the action. If your organization has not set up personnel action number sequences, enter this number.

Personnel action type

The values for this field are entered in the Personnel action types form.

Note

For more information, see Configure personnel actions.

Reason code

The reason that you are completing the action.

Saving and submitting worker actions to workflow

When personnel actions are enabled, you will click Complete to save the worker action. Alternately, if an approval process is required by your organization, you will click Submit to submit the action for review. A confirmation message will appear indicating the submission was successful.

View a list of worker actions by status

You can complete worker actions from the worker action list pages as well as from the respective area of Microsoft Dynamics AX. For example, you can transfer a worker directly from the worker record.

After you have submitted worker actions, you can use the same list pages to track and monitor all of your worker actions in one place.

  1. On the Human Resources area page, in the Common section, click Actions, and then click All worker actions.

    Tip

You can select Pending worker actions to view only worker actions that do not have a status of completed or denied, or select Completed worker actions to view only worker actions that have a status of completed or denied.

  2. Select a worker action in the list. The status will appear in the Review process details section of the FactBox.

View worker action history

To view the historical information about a worker action, including mass compensation changes, do the following:

  1. On the Human Resources area page, in the Common section, click Actions, and then click All worker actions.

  2. Double-click the worker action to open the Worker action form.

  3. In the Action Pane, click Worker action history.

  4. A list will appear that displays the history. You can choose to view complete or incomplete actions only.
