Check credit limits automatically on sales orders

To run credit limit checks automatically on sales orders, you must set up parameters on the customer record and in the Accounts receivable parameters form. To set up parameters, complete the following procedure.

  1. Click Accounts receivable > Common > Customers > All customers. Double-click a customer to open the Customers form.

  2. In the Customers form, on the Action Pane, click Edit.

  3. On the Credit and collections FastTab, select the Mandatory credit limit check box, and enter a value in the Credit limit field. This value must be larger than zero (0), and will be used as the credit limit amount.

  4. Press CRTL+S to save the settings, and then click Close to close the form.

  5. Click Accounts receivable > Setup > Accounts receivable parameters.

  6. Click Credit rating, and then select the Check credit limit on sales order check box.

  7. In the Credit limit type field, select an option. Option values are described in the following table.

    None

There is no requirement for the credit limit check.

    Note

If Mandatory credit limit is selected in the Customers form and None is selected here, the credit limit is checked against the customer balance.

    Balance

The credit limit is checked against the customer balance.

Balance + packing slip or product receipt

The credit limit is checked against the customer balance and deliveries.

    Balance+All

The credit limit is checked against the customer balance, deliveries, and open orders.

  8. Click Close to save the settings and leave the parameter form.

    Note

If you have changed the setting in the Credit limit type field, the Recalculate credit limit form opens when you click Close. If you want to recalculate right away, click Yes. If you want to continue working while the recalculation is performed, set up a batch job and click Yes to run the job later. Click Cancel to skip this step.

Credit checks are now run automatically when the customer’s sales order information is processed.
