Important

APIs under the /beta version in Microsoft Graph are subject to change. Use of these APIs in production applications is not supported. To determine whether an API is available in v1.0, use the Version selector.

Create a new setting based on the templates available in directorySettingTemplates. These settings can be at the tenant-level or at the group level.

Group settings apply to only Microsoft 365 groups. The template named Group.Unified can be used to configure tenant-wide Microsoft 365 group settings, while the template named Group.Unified.Guest can be used to configure group-specific settings.

This API is available in the following national cloud deployments.

Permissions

Choose the permission or permissions marked as least privileged for this API. Use a higher privileged permission or permissions only if your app requires it. For details about delegated and application permissions, see Permission types. To learn more about these permissions, see the permissions reference.

For delegated scenarios, the calling user needs at least one of the following Microsoft Entra roles.

Create a tenant-wide setting.

In the request body, supply a JSON representation of directorySetting object.

Response

If successful, this method returns 201 Created response code and directorySetting object in the response body.
