The concept of exposing Dataverse on a public webpage is appealing for addressing numerous business requirements. However, careful consideration is necessary to avoid exposing private or sensitive data. This module will focus on helping you understand and configure portal security to protect static and dynamic content and limit visibility to specific audiences.
Learning objectives
In this module, you will:
- Learn about the relationship between Dataverse contacts and portal users.
- Identify the various portal security metadata entities such as contacts, web roles, webpage access control rules, and entity permissions.
- Discover how you can limit access to portal webpages by using webpage access control rules.
- Learn how to configure entity permissions to secure Dataverse and Dynamics 365 records.
Prerequisites
- Basic understanding of Power Apps portals
- Ability to create webpages and show Dataverse data by using entity lists and entity forms
- Basic understanding of how relationships work between Dataverse entities
