Trade agreement pricing

Completed

Trade agreements allow for the layering of pricing on top of the base price that is configured on the released product to help determine a new selling price. Unlike the base price, trade agreements allow for the future dating of pricing and can specify an expiration date to when the trade agreement should no longer be valid.

Trade agreements can be configured in three different customer scopes for a trade agreement line:

  • All - This scope will apply to all customers, like the base price, except that trade agreements can be controlled by date and location.
  • Group - This scope will allow trade agreements to be assigned to a retail price group to allow for the linking to a channel, affiliation, loyalty program, or catalog.
  • Table - This scope will limit the trade agreement pricing of a product to a specific customer and is often used in a business-to-business (B2B) pricing scenario.

While trade agreements have configurations for site and warehouse definitions, the pricing engine will not use those configurations to determine the sales price. Any location-specific configurations should be set up by using the retail price groups strategy.

Create trade agreements through category price rules

Trade agreements can be created manually through the Microsoft Excel add-in or by using the category price rules functionality. The Category price rules page in Commerce will let you automatically create trade agreements in bulk for products from category hierarchies by using calculations for new prices based on Markup and Margin. Fixed amount changes can also be made for a released product based on Base cost, Base price, Current price, Latest purchase price, and Price group, among others.

Smart rounding policies can be applied to category price rules for scenarios where the calculated price needs to follow a format, such as xx.98, for all products. All generated trade agreements are available for review prior to posting. The reviewed trade agreements can be further refined by using the Excel add-in.
