As an educator, you play a pivotal role in empowering students for future success! At Microsoft, we’re committed to enabling and supporting you with this mission. Microsoft Learn for Educators takes the best of Microsoft Learn online learning paths and helps you to bring this and the instructor-led training materials from Microsoft into your courses. Eligible educators and faculty members at colleges, universities, community colleges, polytechnics, and secondary schools can access Microsoft ready-to-teach curriculum and teaching materials aligned to industry-recognized Microsoft Certifications. These certifications augment a student’s existing degree path and validate the skills needed to be successful across various technical careers.

Educational Institution: This option is for academic institutions with multiple faculty members interested in establishing a relationship with Microsoft at the department, program, school, or institution level. You or someone you designate will act as the program advisor for your institution. The program advisor will be responsible for accepting the Business Terms of the program and administering the program at your institution and serve as the primary administrative point of contact with Microsoft for this program. Institutions onboarded into the Educational Institution option will have a Microsoft training program manager who will work with them to access and take advantage of the benefits outlined above.

Offering Details

Microsoft curriculum and teaching materials

Microsoft fundamentals curriculum provides foundational-level knowledge of Microsoft cloud and business application services. They are ideal for students starting or thinking about a career in technology. These courses have been designed for instructor-led and blended learning models and can be delivered remotely or in person. They directly align to Microsoft Learn online learning paths, which are collections of training modules, that are delivered wholesale or via the modular components.

Microsoft Learn for Educators provides access to a curriculum of Official Microsoft Learning Products for Microsoft Azure, Azure data, Azure AI, and Power Platform fundamentals. Each course covers Microsoft Certification exam objectives through lessons based on real-world scenarios and practice exercises. Supporting resources for the fundamentals courses include:

  • Online training: Self-paced online learning paths and modules via Learn
  • Microsoft Official Curriculum: Full course, module content (including lab components where available), and trainer guide
  • Course datasheet: Course overview, outline, and learning objectives
  • Educator teaching guide: General course information to prepare for teaching delivery
  • Assessment guide: Guidance on how to develop formative and summative assessments for students

The following information provides an overview of each of the fundamentals courses.

Microsoft Azure Fundamentals

This course provides foundational-level knowledge of Microsoft Azure cloud services and cloud computing concepts. Learning focus areas include cloud computing services and models of Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS). It covers Microsoft Azure services and solutions including security, privacy, compliance, trust, pricing, and support services available. Completion of the course prepares students for the AZ-900: Microsoft Azure Fundamentals certification exam.

Azure AI Fundamentals

This course trains on demonstrating knowledge of common Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) workloads and how to implement them on Azure. The course will cover foundational knowledge of AI workloads, principles of ML, and features of computer vision and conversational AI related to Microsoft Azure services. Completion of this course prepares students for the AI-900: Microsoft Azure AI Fundamentals certification exam and can be used to prepare, but is not a prerequisite for other Azure role-based certifications including the Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Scientist Associate or Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Engineer Associate.

Microsoft Azure Data Fundamentals

This course trains on the concepts of relational and non-relational data, and different types of data workloads such as transactional or analytical. The course will cover core data concepts and working with relational and non-relational data on Microsoft Azure. Completion of this course prepares students for the DP-900: Microsoft Azure Data Fundamentals certification exam and can be used to prepare, but is not a prerequisite for other Azure role-based certifications including the Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate.

Microsoft Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals

This course will provide you with a broad introduction to the fundamentals of security, compliance, and identity (SCI) across cloud-based and Microsoft services. Designed for students who are already familiar with Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365, this course will cover core concepts, principles, and methodologies that are foundational to security, compliance, and identity solutions, including Zero-Trust, shared responsibility, our privacy principles, and more. You will also learn about identity and access management in the Microsoft Cloud along with compliance solutions. Completion of the course prepares students for the SC-900: Microsoft Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals certification exam and can be used to prepare, but is not a prerequisite for other SCI role-based certifications.

Microsoft Power Platform Fundamentals

This course trains on the business value and capabilities of Power Platform. Learn the business value and product capabilities of Power Platform. Create simple Power Apps, connect data with Dataverse, build a Power BI Dashboard, automate processes with Power Automate, and build a chatbot with Power Virtual Agents. Completion of the course prepares students for the the PL-900: Microsoft Power Platform Fundamentals certification exam.

Dynamics 365 Fundamentals (CRM)

This course will provide you with a broad introduction to the customer engagement capabilities of Dynamics 365. You will become familiar with the concept of customer engagement, as well as each of the customer engagement apps, including Dynamics 365 Marketing, Dynamics 365 Sales, Dynamics 365 Customer Service, Dynamics 365 Field Service, and the customer relationship management (CRM) capabilities of Dynamics 365 Project Operations. This course will include lecture as well as hands-on labs. Completion of the course prepares students for the MB-910: Dynamics Fundamentals (CRM) certification exam.

Dynamics 365 Fundamentals (ERP)

This course will provide you with a broad introduction to the finance and operations capabilities of Dynamics 365. You will become familiar with the concept of enterprise resource management (ERP), as well as each of the finance and operations apps, including Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management, Dynamics 365 Finance, Dynamics 365 Commerce, Dynamics 365 Human Resources, and the ERP capabilities of Dynamics 365 Project Operations. This course will include lecture as well as hands-on-labs. Completion of the course prepares students for the MB-920: Dynamics Fundamentals (ERP) certification exam.

Microsoft Certification practice exam

Practice is a key part of preparation. To support you, all educators who are verified and accepted into the program will receive a discounted practice exam (discount varies by program option). This non-transferable practice exam is designed to support you in testing your knowledge of the certification content prior to sitting for the exam.

Microsoft Certification exam voucher

To prepare you for delivering cutting-edge technical instruction in your classes, we suggest that all faculty members get certified in the content they will be teaching. As one of the benefits of this program, all educators will receive a discounted Microsoft Certification exam voucher (discount varies by program option). Use this voucher to take the certification exam associated with the course you will teach. These vouchers are non-transferable and can be redeemed through any Certiport testing center.

Office hours

By taking advantage of our Microsoft Learn for Educators office hours, you will have an opportunity to talk with our Microsoft Learn for Educators program team. Office hours are an opportunity for you to gain answers to questions about the program, seek advice, and receive any more support needed to help you and your students to be successful.

Training program manager

Once your school has joined the Microsoft Learn for Educators program, your institution will be assigned a training program manager. Your training program manager acts as your go-to contact to support you in your participation in the Microsoft Learn for Educators program. From your onboarding session through to teaching your first course, your training program manager will support your progress to ensure your success and your students' success in building new technical skills for the future.

Curriculum integration support

The training program manager will provide you with materials and to help you integrate Microsoft curriculum into your courses. Whether you are going to incorporate the curriculum as part of an existing academic program, into a cloud computing, business, informatics, or agriculture course, or as a brand new, standalone course in your program, we have the materials to guide you.

Data and insights reporting

With an eye towards continuous learning and improvement, this program will help you to understand your students’ knowledge of in-demand, industry technical skills and concepts, and understand how their experiences with the Microsoft technology curriculum through your institution transforms their knowledge and skill level. In order to take advantage of this, as a part of the Educational Institution program, faculty members, the program advisor, and students will need to complete pre- and post-instruction surveys.
