As an educator, you play a pivotal role in empowering students for future success! At Microsoft, we’re committed to enabling and supporting you with this mission. Microsoft Learn for Educators takes the best of Microsoft Learn online learning paths and supporting instructor-led training materials into the classroom. Eligible educators and faculty members at colleges, universities, community colleges, polytechnics, and secondary schools can access Microsoft ready-to-teach curriculum and teaching materials aligned to industry-recognized Microsoft Certifications. These certifications augment a student’s existing degree path and validate the skills needed to be successful across a variety of technical careers.

Microsoft is here to support you on this journey! The details below outline the Microsoft resources provided to enable your online and/or in-classroom delivery as well as step-by-step access instructions.

Curriculum and teaching materials

Microsoft fundamentals curriculum provide foundational-level knowledge of Microsoft cloud and business application services. They are ideal for students starting or thinking about a career in technology. These courses have been designed for instructor-led and blended learning models and can be delivered remotely or in person. They directly align to Microsoft Learn online learning paths, which are collections of training modules, that are delivered wholesale or via modular components.

Microsoft Learn for Educators provides access to a curriculum of Official Microsoft Learning Products for Microsoft Azure, Azure data, Azure AI, and Power Platform fundamentals. Each course covers Microsoft Certification exam objectives through lessons based on real-world scenarios and practice exercises. Supporting resources for the fundamentals courses include:

  • Online training: Self-paced online learning paths and modules via Learn
  • Microsoft Official Curriculum: Full course, module content (including lab components where available), and Trainer Guide
  • Course datasheet: Course overview, outline, and learning objectives
  • Educator teaching guide: General course information to prepare for teaching delivery

The following information provides an overview of each of the fundamentals courses.

Microsoft Azure Fundamentals

This course provides foundational-level knowledge of Microsoft Azure cloud services and cloud computing concepts. Learning focus areas include cloud computing services and models of Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS). It covers Microsoft Azure services and solutions including security, privacy, compliance, trust, pricing, and support services available. Completion of the course prepares students for the AZ-900: Microsoft Azure Fundamentals certification exam.

Microsoft Power Platform Fundamentals

This course trains on the business value and capabilities of Power Platform. The course will cover building a Power BI dashboard, creating simple Power Apps canvas app experiences, connecting data with a Common Data Service for apps, and automating a workflow process with Power Automate. Completion of the course prepares students for the PL-900: Microsoft Power Platform Fundamentals certification exam.

Azure AI Fundamentals

This course trains on demonstrating knowledge of common Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) workloads and how to implement them on Azure. The course will cover foundational knowledge of AI workloads, principles of ML, and features of computer vision and conversational AI related to Microsoft Azure services. Completion of this course prepares students for the AI-900: Microsoft Azure AI Fundamentals certification exam and can be used to prepare, but is not a prerequisite for additional Azure role-based certifications including the Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Scientist Associate or Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Engineer Associate.

Microsoft Azure Data Fundamentals (coming soon)

This course trains on the concepts of relational and non-relational data, and different types of data workloads such as transactional or analytical. The course will cover core data concepts and working with relational and non-relational data on Microsoft Azure. Completion of this course prepares students for the DP-900: Microsoft Azure Data Fundamentals certification exam and can be used to prepare, but is not a prerequisite for additional Azure role-based certifications including the Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate.

Material access instructions

To gain access to the Microsoft Learn for Educators teaching materials and curriculum, please follow the step-by-step instructions.

Step 1: Create a Microsoft Learn profile

  1. Sign-in to your Microsoft Learn Profile using your school email. If your Learn profile is not set up, complete your profile.

  2. On the left hand navigation panel, go to 'Settings' and in the Account Management section, add an account using your personal email. If your email is not a Microsoft account, follow the instructions to get one.

  1. Take note of both your school and personal e-mail accounts you used to sign-up.

Step 2: Complete the program submission form

  1. Go to the Microsoft Learn for Educators submission form and complete the form.
  2. On the submission form, review and accept the license terms.
  3. Click 'Submit.' You will receive an acknowledgment of your submission.

Important

Please allow up to 3 business days to verify and activate your access.

Step 3: Access the Educator Resources

  1. Once you have received an activation email, go to the Microsoft Learning Download Center.
  2. If not already, sign-in using your personal email address.
  3. If already signed-in, accept the terms & conditions.
  4. Access the educator resources via the Learn for Educators program.
  5. Expand the Learn for Educators program and select files/folders to be added to Downloads Queue.
  6. Select the Downloads Queue and click Download - if prompted install the Download Manager to download files.
