5.1 Security Considerations for Implementers

The .NET Packet Routing Protocol does not carry any security consideration. A vendor can extend the protocol to provide additional security considerations as long as the default and basic routing scenarios, as specified by this document, function as expected. In addition, vendors and implementers of this protocol need to account for the fallback scenario when a message is routed through a .NET Packet Routing Protocol router that does not support the additional security extensions.
