2.1.1 Purpose
The purpose of the Certificate Services protocols is to issue and manage certificates. The Certificate Services protocols include the protocols that are used for submitting certificate requests to the CA, for CA server-side processing of these requests, and for remote administration of the CA. The certificates themselves do not generally contain sensitive information and are often publicly available. The certificates can be used for different purposes and are typically stored in a variety of methods and locations. Certificates have a certain lifetime and eventually face expiration. Certificate autoenrollment automates certificate enrollment and renewal for computer certificates.
