2.2.1.2 Registry Protocol Versions

The registry protocol has nine versions for MSDTC Connection Manager: OleTx Management Protocol: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9. For each version, there is a set of registry key values that MUST be supported (Required), a set of optional registry key values that SHOULD be supported (Optional), and a set of registry key values that MUST NOT be supported (Not Supported). The registry protocol version for MSDTC Connection Manager: OleTx Management Protocol is determined as specified in section 3.2.4.1.

Required

The registry key value MUST be supported in the respective protocol version.

Optional

The registry key value SHOULD be supported in the respective protocol version.

Not Supported

The registry key value MUST NOT be supported in the respective protocol version.

A supported registry key value is accessed either using the Windows Remote Registry Protocol [MS-RRP] (as illustrated in section 4.2.1) or using the Failover Cluster: Management API (ClusAPI) Protocol [MS-CMRP] (as illustrated in section 4.1), depending on the version of the registry protocol. To access a supported registry key value via the Failover Cluster: Management API (ClusAPI) Protocol, the cluster resource ID (as specified in [MS-CMRP] section 3.1.4.2.32) MUST be known in order to construct the registry path of the registry key.
