1.4 Relationship to Protocols and Other Structures

Several related metafile formats can be used together for device-independent printing. Their relationships are:

• Enhanced metafile spool format (EMFSPOOL) records ([MS-EMFSPOOL] section 2.2) can contain EMF records.

• Enhanced metafile format (EMF) records (section 2.3) can contain EMF+ records.<2>

• Enhanced metafile format plus extensions (EMF+) records ([MS-EMFPLUS] section 2.3) can contain Windows metafile format (WMF) records ([MS-WMF] section 2.3).
