Manage your MPN account locations, and add or delete a location
Appropriate roles: Global admin | Account admin
A Microsoft Partner Network (MPN) account can be global or local. Each MPN account has an MPN ID.
The global MPN ID identifies the equivalent of a company's headquarters. It's used for non-transactional activities such as support requests.
A location MPN ID identifies a company subsidiary. It's used to enroll in incentive programs, to transact Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) business, and other business transactions. Payouts are tied to these specific locations.
Example MPN account structure and account IDs
In the diagram, Contoso has its company headquarters in the UK, so that's where the business is legally registered. The UK is also the location of Contoso's partner global account (PGA), MPN ID 1234566.
Contoso has subsidiaries in the UK, France, and the United States. Each has its own partner location account (PLA) and MPN ID.
Note
There is a one-to-one relationship between a CSP tenant and an MPN location ID.
Add a location MPN ID
To add a location MPN ID:
Sign in using the MPN account in Partner Center. (Your MPN credentials may be different from your CSP credentials.) The MPN account must have Global Admin or Account Admin privileges.
Select the Settings gear icon, Account Settings, and then select Organization profile.
Select Legal and then, on the Partner tab, select Business locations, and select Add a location.
Provide the required details, including business name, address, and contact information for the location.
Select Add location to create a new MPN ID for the location that you can use for CSP transactions and incentives.
Important
After a location MPN ID is added in Partner Center, you must contact Partner Support to remove it. For more information about deleting a location, see Delete a location MPN ID.
Delete a location MPN ID
To delete a location MPD ID from your account, you must contact Partner Support.
Before a location MPD ID can be deleted, you'll be required to provide written statement saying that you understand that:
- Deleted locations can’t be retrieved.
- Anything tied to that MPN ID will no longer be recognized or be active for your company (for example, co-sell solutions or other program enrollments).
Prerequisites for adding a new account for a CSP business
To add a new CSP business account, start by ensuring that you've fulfilled the prerequisites:
You must accept the Microsoft Partner Agreement and activate the account.
You must have a location MPN ID in the country where you want to do CSP business.
If you want to enroll as a Direct Bill partner, read Requirements for Direct Bill partners
To create a new CSP Indirect Reseller enrollment, read Work with indirect providers.
Note
Remember to sign in with the new credentials for the new CSP account. Don't use your existing credentials because Partner Center will recognize you as already having an account.
View and update your MPN locations
To view and update your MPN locations:
Sign in to the Partner Center dashboard with your MPN account credentials. (Your MPN credentials may be different from your CSP credentials.)
Select the Settings gear icon, Account Settings, and then Legal.
On the Partner tab, if there's an error message asking you to fix migrated locations from Partner Membership Center (PMC), you must update those locations before you can proceed.
On the Review PMC locations screen, select Update.
Update the following information:
Name: Ensure that the name is correct. If a duplicate error is displayed, try another version of the name, changing Contoso to Contoso, Inc., for example.
Legal Entity: Ensure that you have chosen the legal entity that the location is tied to.
Address lines 1 and 2: Ensure that the address is correct
City and State/Province: Ensure that the city and state or province match. You can choose some countries from a dropdown menu, but some countries must be entered manually.
ZIP/ Postal code: Make sure the ZIP or postal code matches the other address information.
Primary contact information: Ensure that both the first and last names are filled in. Ensure that the e-mail address is a working one and that it's not a personal address (that it doesn't end in outlook.com or @live.com, for example).
Phone number: Ensure that the phone number has maximum of 10 characters, with no special characters, spaces, or country code.
If there isn't an error message, then from Settings, select Account Settings, Organization profile, Identifiers.
Find the MPN ID with Type "Location" that matches the country of this CSP account and use it to complete the association.
If you can't find the location MPN ID that matches the CSP account that you want to use, you can add a new location, which will create a new MPN ID. See Add a location MPN ID.
