The per user Premium license fills a gap in the current Power BI product offerings. This new license adds some key Premium capabilities on top of the standard Power BI Pro license without requiring the purchase of a Premium subscription.
Feature details
When Power BI Premium was initially released, the main adoption driver for customers was for the unlimited free user distribution it provides. With a few exceptions (dataset sizes and refresh frequency), Premium had the same functionality that Pro users received in shared capacity.
Currently, there are several features that are only available in Power BI Premium and are unavailable to Power BI Pro users, including paginated reports, AI, and advanced dataflows capabilities. In order to make these features available to Power BI Pro users, we are offering a new per user license. This new license provides the same capabilities as Power BI Pro plus additional Premium features that, to date, have only been available with the capacity-based Premium offering.
