Configuring the Connection Manager Using XML

Send Feedback

Third-party applications can use XML to create and manage connection settings and perform the following tasks:

  • Create network settings for RAS and GPRS.
  • Define proxy and virtual private network (VPN) settings.
  • Modify and delete existing network settings, including metanetwork associations.
  • Query and modify the preferred connections for each metanetwork.
  • Perform these network configuration functions using ActiveSync.

Applications can call the DMProcessConfigXML function, which is capable of performing these different configuration tasks. An application can call this function using an XML file that contains all the settings that should be configured. This file is stored in the appropriate configuration service provider to be used by Connection Manager.

Any user configurable settings, such as GPRS settings, must be placed in a cold boot provisioning file. See Provisioning Using a ROM Configuration XML File for details.
