Configure using BizTalk Configuration | Azure Virtual Machine

BizTalk Server can be configured using Basic Configuration or Custom Configuration. Consider the following:

	Basic Configuration	Custom Configuration
BizTalk Groups	Automatically creates local groups. No option to use domain groups.	You enter the domain groups.
SQL Server	Use this option when SQL Server is installed on the BizTalk Server virtual machine.	Use this option when SQL Server is installed on a separate computer or virtual machine.
Database Names	Generated automatically.	You can modify the default values.
Service Account	All BizTalk Server services run as the account you enter.	You can enter different accounts for different services.

Configure BizTalk using Basic Configuration

When you use the Basic Configuration, consider the following:

• The logged-on user account must be a member of the local administrators group and have System Administrator rights on SQL Server.

• SQL Server must be installed on the BizTalk Server virtual machine.

To use Basic Configuration:

1. In your All Programs menu, select BizTalk Server, right-click BizTalk Server Configuration, and then click Run as Administrator.

2. In Database server name, enter the virtual machine name that has BizTalk Server and SQL Server installed.

3. Enter the User name and Password for the BizTalk services. If the virtual machine is added to your domain, the account must exist and can be a local account or a domain account.

4. Click Configure.

   Note

   If you enter a user name with administrative credentials, you may receive a warning. The warning is normal. Click OK to continue.

5. On the Summary screen, review the configuration about to be performed, and then click Next.

6. On the Completion screen, click Finish.

Configure BizTalk using Custom Configuration

When you use the Custom Configuration, consider the following:

• The logged-on user account must be a member of the local administrators group and have System Administrator rights on SQL Server.

• SQL Server and BizTalk Server are installed on separate virtual machines.

To use Custom Configuration:

1. In your All Programs menu, select BizTalk Server, right-click BizTalk Server Configuration, and then click Run as Administrator.

2. Click Custom configuration.

3. In Database server name, enter the SQL Server virtual machine name.

4. Enter the User name and Password for the BizTalk services. If the virtual machine is added to your domain, the account must exist, and must be a domain user account.

5. Click Configure.

   Note

   If you enter a user name with administrative credentials, you may receive a warning. This warning is normal. Click OK to continue.

6. Configure the individual components:

   Enterprise SSO	Required. Click Enable Enterprise Single Sign-On on this computer and click Create a new SSO system. The additional values are automatically populated. Click the ellipses (…) to select the domain account and domain groups.
   Enterprise SSO secret	Required. Enter the SSO Master Secret password and a password reminder. Important It is important to know this password and share this password with other BizTalk Administrators.
   Group	Required. Click Enable BizTalk Server Group on this computer and click Create a new BizTalk Group. The additional values are automatically populated. Click the ellipses (…) to select the domain groups.
   BizTalk Runtime	Required. Click Register the BizTalk Server runtime components. The additional values are automatically populated. Click the ellipses (…) to select the domain groups. An In-Process Host instance runs as a BizTalk process. An Isolated Host runs as an IIS process.
   Business Rules Engine	Optional. If you are using Business Rules Engine (BRE), click Enable Business Rules Engine on this computer. The additional values are automatically populated. Click the ellipses (…) to select the domain account.
   BAM Tools	Optional. If you are using Business Activity Monitoring (BAM), click Enable Business Activity Monitoring tools. The additional values are automatically populated. Analysis Services is also an option and requires you to enter the SQL Server name and the database name.
   BAM Alerts	Optional. Uses SQL Notification Services, which is not installed. BAM Alerts requires the BAM Tools.
   BAM Portal	Optional. If you are using Business Activity Monitoring (BAM) and want to use the BAM Portal, click Enable BAM Portal. The BAM Portal requires the BAM Tools. The additional values are automatically populated. Click the ellipses (…) to select the domain account and domain groups.
   BizTalk EDI/AS2 Runtime	Optional. If you are using EDI and AS2, click Enable BizTalk EDI/AS2 Runtime on this computer and the additional options. The EDI/AS2 Runtime requires the BAM Tools.

7. Click Apply Configuration.

8. On the Summary screen, review your configuration options specified, and then click Next.

9. When complete, click Finish.
