Installing the Sample Supplier Site

This topic explains how to configure two computers for a Supplier Solution Site that uses both Active Directory and SQL Server 2000. You can perform these steps to build a supplier site for evaluation and testing purposes. You can set up a supplier site in one of several ways by using Windows 2000, Domain Name System (DNS) servers, and local intranets, depending on the requirements of your company.

Following is an overview of the steps you must perform to set up the sample configuration. Each of these steps is explained in detail in this topic.

  1. Step 1: Configure Active Directory and DNS on Computer 1, and then promote it to an Active Directory domain controller.
  2. Step 2: Configure Computer 2.
  3. Step 3: Enable Trust Delegation on Computer 1.
  4. Step 4: Configure Log On Locally User Rights on Computer 1.
  5. Step 5: Install Server Software on Computer 2.
  6. Step 6: Unpack the Supplier Solution Site on Computer 2.
  7. Step 7: Verify Software Configuration on the Two Computers.
  8. Step 8: Enable AuthFilter for the Supplier Solution Site.
  9. Step 9: Install the Business Desk client.
  10. Step 10: Verify Business Desk and Supplier Site configuration.
  11. Step 11: Edit ASP Files.

These steps assume that:

  • You have experience installing Windows 2000 Advanced Server, Windows 2000 Server, Commerce Server 2002, and SQL Server 2000.
  • You are creating a new domain (Active Directory) for the first time.
  • You are creating a new DNS server.
  • You are using mixed mode authentication for your SQL Server, and Basic authentication for your Web server. If you want to use this configuration in an Internet scenario, you should also enable Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS) for your Web server.
