What is the Logical Design of a Deployment?

For the latest version of Commerce Server 2007 Help, see the Microsoft Web site.

This section provides information about the logical design of the prescribed deployment scenario. Understanding the logical design is the first step in transforming your functional requirements and components into a physical design that you can deploy in your data center.

Conceptually, you can categorize the supported features in your deployment according to their functionality and relation to site data. While these features are grouped together conceptually to explain how they support specific functionality, physically you deploy these features in separate environments.

The prescribed deployment scenario categorizes the features into three functional design components: Web, data, and management environments.

The following figure shows the three functional design components in Commerce Server.
