Manage regions and locations

Locations let you provide a consolidated or roll-up view of all marketing activities that are related to a specific location The location function in Microsoft Dynamics Marketing is particularly useful if your marketing efforts support retail outlets, stores, franchise units, etc.
An unlimited number of locations can belong to each company that is created in Microsoft Dynamics Marketing.
An unlimited number of locations can belong to each division that is created in Microsoft Dynamics Marketing.
Locations can be grouped into regions. Each location can belong to several regions, if needed.
Regions let you provide a consolidated or roll-up view of all marketing activities that are related to a specific region of a company.
An unlimited number of regions can belong to each company that is created in Microsoft Dynamics Marketing. Regions can only belong to a single company.
An unlimited number of regions can belong to each division that is created in Microsoft Dynamics Marketing. Regions can only belong to a single division.
View and manage regions
To work with regions, go to Settings > My Company > Regions. This brings you to the Regions list page, which provides many of the standard controls for searching, sorting, filtering, adding, removing and viewing items in the list, plus other common features. Whenever you create or edit a region, the settings described in the following table are provided.

Name |
Enter the name of the region. An entry is required. If you enter the same name twice, Microsoft Dynamics Marketing will display a warning. |

Enter a description of the region. |
Company |
Select the company that this region belongs to from the pull-down menu. If a default company has been set, the default company will be selected. More information: Contacts and companies |
Division |
Select the division that this region is for from the pull-down menu. More information: Set up divisions and departments to reflect your organization |
Category |
Select the category this region belongs to. More information: Create custom drop-down values and folders |
Type |
Select the region type. |

User defined fields
If you need to store other types of information about your locations and/or regions, then you can set up user-defined fields for them. More information: Configure user defined fields
