Manage your ad inventory using Microsoft Dynamics Marketing

  1. Create media outlets records for the media 'properties' that you will be selling. For example, if you publish a magazine and its web site, setup two media outlets in Microsoft Dynamics Marketing; one for the magazine and one for the web site. More information: Media

  2. Create Media assets for all the different ads that are available. For example, if you have 1/4 page, 1/2 page and Full Page ads in the magazine's rate card, setup Assets for each one. If you have a hero banner on the web site's home page, setup an Asset to represent it. During the setup process you will be able to determine if the Asset has limited inventory or not. For example if you publish 12 issues of the magazine, you could create media asset templates for each ad size to setup the ads for each issue quickly. More information: Manage asset templates

  3. When clients place orders, use the View inventory page to view available Inventory and to create bookings. Bookings are Sales Orders that also reserve the Inventory. More information: View media bookings.

  4. When the ads run, convert the Bookings to media invoices. More information: Prepare invoices for clients for items, services and media. When you Invoice the Bookings, revenue will post to Microsoft Dynamics Marketing's general ledger and to accounts receivable; more information: Chart of accounts and Accounts receivable.
