Follow the privacy statement provided by Microsoft on your behalf
P3P is a web technology that helps keep your customers and contacts informed about potential privacy issues and your policies for dealing with them. Some browsers, including Internet Explorer 10 and Internet Explorer 11, enforce this standard by default and may reject cookies that are set by servers that do not provide such a policy—especially when these cookies are set by a third party, such as when you use Dynamics Marketing website behaviour-analysis scripts on your own website. If you wish to make use of these features, then you must read, accept, and follow Microsoft’s standard P3P policy for Dynamics Marketing, as stated in the privacy notice at the bottom of this topic.
For each feature in Dynamics Marketing where a privacy, security, legal or financial disclaimer applies, including the P3P policy, you will see a security shield icon on the page. Choose this icon to read the related disclaimer.
The P3P policy applies whenever you use the following Dynamics Marketing features:
Website behavioral analysis (see also Create a website behavioral-analysis script)
Landing pages (see also Create and customize landing pages)
Cookies set by Dynamics Marketing
Elements of Dynamics Marketing set the following types of cookies in users’ browsers:
Long-term behavioral-analysis cookie: This cookie is set and/or read on any webpage where you have placed a Dynamics Marketing website behavioral-analysis script. It enables Dynamics Marketing to score leads based on their level of interaction with a given website. The cookie contains no personal information, but does uniquely identify a specific browser on a specific machine, and Dynamics Marketing can use it to correlate this ID with an actual contact in the Dynamics Marketing database. The cookie remains active for two years.
Short-term, single-visit cookie: This cookie is also set and/or read on any webpage where you have placed a Dynamics Marketing website behavioral-analysis script. By default, it expires after just 30 minutes (although you can configure this). Dynamics Marketing uses it to group all page loads by a given visitor that are recorded by the same behavioral-analysis script and that occur within the configured timespan; it will consider all of these as part of a single “visit” to the website.
Landing page registration cookie: This cookie is set when a contact submits a Dynamics Marketing landing page with its Remember my information checkbox marked. It enables the landing page to show a pre-filled form the next time the same contact uses it. The information stored in the cookie is a cryptographic unique identifier and does not contain the data submitted or any means for an external application to uncover the submitted information.
Each time that Dynamics Marketing sets one of the above types of cookies, the P3P privacy statement shown in the disclaimer at the bottom of this topic is delivered to the user’s browser. All Dynamics Marketing licensees are obligated to treat user data in compliance with this policy if they make use of features that rely on these cookies.
Use the privacy-statement feature for landing pages
Dynamics Marketing landing pages enable you to include a link to a privacy statement. We recommend that you take advantage of this feature by publishing your privacy statement on a webpage and then specifying the URL for that page on all landing page configurations in Dynamics Marketing. See Create and customize landing pages for details about landing pages and this feature.
The notice below describes the Platform for Privacy Preferences (P3P) policy that is delivered to contacts’ browsers whenever Dynamics Marketing tries to set a cookie. All Dynamics Marketing licensees are obligated to treat user data in compliance with this policy if they make use of features that rely on cookies.
