Connect Dynamics Marketing to your Power BI Dashboard
Applies To: Dynamics Marketing
Microsoft Dynamics Marketing has been discontinued and is no longer available. All customer data related to this product has been permanently deleted from all Microsoft servers and is no longer available for extraction. This documentation is being provided for historical purposes only.
Use the Microsoft Dynamics Marketing content pack for Power BI to create a customized, online, graphical dashboard for monitoring, analyzing and presenting your Dynamics Marketing data. The content pack applies a descriptive model on top of your existing OData feed, thus proving access to all of your most important marketing entities and measurements, including: programs; campaigns; marketing contacts and companies; leads; lead interactions and lead scoring; email marketing messages and websites; behavioral observations; budgets; financial transaction; performance KPIs; and many more. The solution delivers data records created in the last 365 days and is refreshed daily.
Your Dynamics Marketing administrator must enable the OData endpoint on the Site Settings page. More information: Design custom reports using OData and Power BI
In Power BI, you must specify the OData URL for your Dynamics Marketing instance. More information:** **Design custom reports using OData and Power BI
The user account or identity that you use to sign into Dynamics Marketing must be the same as the one you use with Power BI for Office 365. If you already have two different accounts for accessing these two systems, then you should ask your admin to add a Power BI license to your Dynamics Marketing account if you wish to use the Dynamics Marketing content pack.
The user account/identity that you use to sign into Power BI must be configured in Dynamics Marketing as a user with the View All OData - Organization Data Service privilege, or a role that includes that privilege. More information: Work with user accounts and staff contacts
The user account or identity that you use to sign into Power BI must have view all privileges for each type data that you wish to consume via OData. In other words, you will only have access via OData to the same types of records for which you have view-all privileges when working directly in Dynamics Marketing. OData feeds cannot be filtered by record ownership. More information:** **Work with user accounts and staff contacts
Most of the Power BI widgets provided for the Dynamics Marketing content pack require access to both static marketing lists and queries (dynamic marketing lists); the widgets will typically fail on load if your user account lacks privileges to access these lists. In versions prior to Microsoft Dynamics Marketing 2015 Update 1, users who wish to access static or dynamic marketing lists via OData must have the Media Buyer user type and be granted view all permissions to Mailing Lists (Rented).
