How to: Install COM Business Connector using Command-line Options

COM Business Connector is no longer going to be supported in a future release. If you need to install COM Business Connector, you must install from the command line. For information about .NET Business Connector, see .NET Business Connector Overview.

This topic describes how to install COM Business Connector using command-line options. For more information about how to install Microsoft Dynamics AX and command-line options, see the Microsoft Dynamics AX installation guide.

Install COM Business Connector

There are specific options to include for the COM Business Connector installation. The options must include commands to identify the location of the setup file for Microsoft Dynamics AX, to hide the user interface for the installation, and to accept the license terms and to install COM Business Connector. The following procedure explains how to install COM Business Connector using command-line options.

To install using command-line options

  1. From the Start menu, click Run, type cmd, and then click OK.

  2. At the command prompt, type the fully qualified path of setup.exe for Microsoft Dynamics AX and the commands to hide the user interface, accept the license terms, and install COM Business Connector. For example, your command-line options might resemble the following:

    D:\Setup.exe HideUI=1 AcceptLicense=1 InstallComBusinessConnector=1
    

    Note

    If you do not have .NET Business Connector installed, you must also specify the location of your Application Object Server (AOS). You must include the following parameter and replace AOSLocation with the computer name of your AOS location.


    ClientAosServer=%AOSLocation%
    

You can verify that COM Business Connector was installed correctly by locating AxCom.dll. The default location is C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics AX\50\Client\Bin.

Uninstall COM Business Connector

The following procedure explains how to uninstall COM Business Connector using command-line options.

To uninstall using command-line options

  1. From the Start menu, click Run, type cmd, and then click OK.

  2. At the command prompt, type the fully qualified path of setup.exe for Microsoft Dynamics AX and the commands to hide the user interface, accept the license terms, and remove COM Business Connector. For example, your command-line options might resemble the following:

    D:\Setup.exe HideUI=1 AcceptLicense=1 RemoveComBusinessConnector=1
