How to: Disable or Enable Personalization

You can use personalization to customize the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Windows client by hiding or displaying elements such as actions, fields, FactBoxes, and FastTabs. To personalize the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Windows client, in the Role Center and on pages, choose Customize. On FastTabs and page parts, choose Actions. By default, personalization is enabled. You can disable personalization for Microsoft Dynamics NAV Windows client users in the following ways:

  • Modify the profile in the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Windows client. When you disable personalization for the profile, personalization is disabled in the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Windows client of all users who are assigned to that profile. To disable personalization for a Role Center, you must disable personalization for a profile.

  • Use the disablepersonalization parameter when you start the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Windows client at the command prompt. For more information, see Starting the Windows Client at the Command Prompt.

When you disable personalization, all menus items that are associated with personalization are no longer displayed. If a user has personalized the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Windows client, then the personalization settings in the user’s Microsoft Dynamics NAV Windows client are ignored.
