Opening the Code Librarian

In Office XP Developer, the Code Librarian has been redesigned to improve functionality and accessibility. You can open the Code Librarian from the Windows Start menu or from within the Microsoft Development Environment.

After you first open the Code Librarian, you must attach a Code Librarian database. After attaching a database, the next time you open the Code Librarian, it will open with the previously viewed code library.

To open the Code Librarian from the Start Menu

  1. From the Start menu, point to Programs, then Microsoft Office XP Developer, and then Code Librarian.

  2. From the Code Librarian menu, select Add, and then Existing Library.

  3. In the Open dialog box, browse to the location of the Code Librarian database.

    To open the Codelib.clb database, browse to the My Documents folder.

To open the Code Librarian from the Microsoft Development Environment

  1. From the Start menu, point to Programs, then Microsoft Office XP Developer, and then Microsoft Development Environment.

  2. From the View menu, select Code Librarian.

  3. From the Code Librarian menu, select Add, and then Existing Library.

  4. In the Open dialog box, browse to the location of the Code Librarian database.

    To open the Codelib.clb database, browse to the My Documents folder.

To close a code library

  1. Select the code library node in the Code Librarian Explorer.
  2. From the Code Librarian menu, click Close.
