You can use arithmetic operators in PerformancePoint Expression Language (PEL) for any arithmetic computations. This includes addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and exponentiation.
PEL supports the arithmetic operators listed in the following table.
- + (addition) (PEL)
Adds two numbers.
- / (division) (PEL)
Divides one number by another number.
- * (multiplication) (PEL)
Multiplies two numbers.
- - (subtraction) (PEL)
Subtracts one number from another number.
- ^ (exponentiation) (PEL)
Raises one number to the power of another number.
Order of Precedence
The following rules determine the order of precedence for arithmetic operators in a PEL expression.
When there is more than one arithmetic operator in an expression, PEL performs exponentiation (raise to a power) first. After completing power operations, PEL performs multiplication and division, and then subtraction and addition.
When all arithmetic operators in an expression have the same level of precedence, the order of execution is left to right.
Expressions enclosed in parentheses take precedence over all other operations.
