Web Services Overview

Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 provides the following Web services for working with user profiles and personalization.

**User Profile Service Web service **The User Profile Service provides several methods to easily retrieve user profile data and data in common among users, as well as to add links and colleagues. The Web service is located at http://<site url>/_vti_bin/userprofileservice.asmx.
**Published Links Web service **Office SharePoint Server 2007 provides the Published Links Web service so that Microsoft Office clients and other interested applications can obtain the list of published links on the server that are targeted to the current user. These links point to Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 sites that are available for publishing information from Office clients and other applications for that user. The Administration interface and the object model allow you to add published links to the server. The Web service is located at http://<site url>/_vti_bin/publishedlinks.asmx.
**User Profile Change Service **This Web service enables you to query the user profiles change log remotely.
