Introducing Media Content Types in SharePoint Server 2010 (ECM)

Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 provides three new digital media content types: Audio, Image, and Video. All three content types are included in the Asset Library definition and are provisioned by default.

Content Type Field Descriptions

The new digital media content types include fields that perform specific functions, as specified in Table 1.

Frame Height

Indicates the frame height in pixels.

Frame Width

Indicates the frame width in pixels.

Frame Rate

Indicates the frame rate in KB per second.

Frame Size

Height

Indicates the height of the image in pixels.

Length

x

Indicates the duration of the audio file in seconds.

Preview Image URL

x

Stores the URL of the preview image for a given video file. To make the URL data available, you must first upload the image to a valid library, and then add the preview image to the uploaded video.

Width

x

Indicates the width of the image in pixels.

All three media content types are inherited from the base Asset content type.
