[This topic is intended to address a specific issue called out by the Exchange Server Analyzer Tool. You should apply it only to systems that have had the Exchange Server Analyzer Tool run against them and are experiencing that specific issue. The Exchange Server Analyzer Tool, available as a free download, remotely collects configuration data from each server in the topology and automatically analyzes the data. The resulting report details important configuration issues, potential problems, and nondefault product settings. By following these recommendations, you can achieve better performance, scalability, reliability, and uptime. When you install Exchange Server 2010 Service Pack 1 (SP1) for hosting deployments, you must run the installation from the command line, and you must include the /hosting switch on every server in the environment.
After Exchange Server is installed, your servers will be running in Hosting mode.
The following switches are not supported during the installation of Exchange Server 2010:
/PrepareLegacyExchangePermissions:<domain FQDN>, /pl:<domain FQDN>
/AddUmLanguagePack:<UM language pack name>
/RemoveUmLanguagePack:<UM language pack name>
Also, the following roles are not supported by Exchange server 2010 SP1 in Hosting mode:
Unified Messaging server role
Edge Transport server role
If these switches or roles are present when you try to install Exchange Server 2010 SP1 for hosting deployments, the installation will fail.
