Generating Groove Server Manager reports

This article describes how to generate server and client activity reports. The server report lets you view a log of server events. SharePoint Workspace reports let you view usage statistics that are reported regularly by clients.

Generating Groove Server Manager reports

Use the following procedure to view the server event log and reports of SharePoint Workspace client activity.

To generate Groove Server Manager reports

  1. Log on to the Groove Server Manager administrative Web site and select the management server or domain from the navigation pane.

  2. From the Reports drop-down list on the Reports tab, select a report type. For a description of each report type, see the Groove Server Manager reports reference.

  3. From the Period drop-down list, select On, Before, After, or Between, and then use the date pickers to define a date range for the report.

  4. To customize the current report, click Filter or its expansion arrow, and then use the filter controls as described in Filtering Groove Server Manager reports, later in this article.

  5. Click the Display Report button to display the report. For a description of the information fields for each report type, see the Groove Server Manager reports reference.

  6. To navigate within the report, use the arrow controls in the page.

  7. To sort on a specific field, click an underlined title in the column that you want to sort on. To reverse the sort order, click the title again.

  8. To change the number of items displayed per page, select a value in the Items per page drop-down list below the display area. The default is 25 items per page.

Filtering Groove Server Manager reports

You can use the Groove Server Manager report filtering controls at any time to refine your report. Filter types vary, depending on the type of user data that you request.

To define filters

  1. From the Reports tab, select a report type from the Reports drop-down list.

  2. Use the Period drop-down menu and date pickers to specify a date range.

  3. Click Filter or its expansion arrow to display filter controls. For a description of filter controls, see Filter controls, later in this article.

  4. Select a filter from the drop-down list. The filter list depends on the selected report type. For a description of the filters for each report type, see the Groove Server Manager reports reference.

  5. Click the + (plus sign) button to add the filter to the filter display box.

  6. To specify another filter, select AND or OR from drop-down list, and add a filter as previously described.

  7. To edit a filter, click the Edit Filter button, make the necessary changes in the filter editing window, and then click OK.

    For example, a filter specification for a Server Log report of Relay server events that are associated with a user, John X, or his group, might look as follows:

    Event Type Is Relay Server events -

    AND Who Is John X -

    OR Group Is Sales <Select Group> -

  8. To delete a filter, click the - (minus sign) button next to any filter in the Edit Filter window.

  9. To clear the whole filter specification, click the Clear Filter button on the main Report page.

  10. Click Display Report to see the filtered report. For a description of the information fields for each report type, see the Groove Server Manager reports reference.

Exporting Groove Server Manager reports

You can export a displayed report to an .xml or a .csv file from the domain Reports page.

To export a report

  1. Log on to the Groove Server Manager administrative Web site and generate a report, as described in Generating Groove Server Manager reports.

  2. Click Export Report in the toolbar. An Export pop-up window appears.

  3. Select CSV or XML as a destination file type, and then click OK. A File Download pop-up window appears.

  4. Click Open to open the file in the selected format and then save it. Or, click Save to browse to a file location to save the report.

Filter controls

The following table describes filter controls:

Report filter controls Descriptions

Filter button

Displays filters for the selected report type.

AND/OR drop-down list

Available when at least one filter is entered. And is the default.

Lets you specify one of the following:

AND to specify additive filters.

OR to specify alternative filters.

Filter type drop-down list

Lets you specify a filter, depending on the selected report type. For example, if Server Log is the select report type, you could select one of the following filters: Who (an administrator name), Group Name, Event Type, Member, Relay Server. For a description of filters for each report type, see Groove Server Manager reports reference.

Qualifier drop-down list

Lets you select one of the following:

Is (=)

Begins With (followed by text field)

Ends With (followed by text field)

Contains (followed by text field)

On (followed by date picker)

Before (<+ followed by date picker)

After (>= followed by date picker)

Between (begin date and end date)

=, <, >, <=, >=

Never (NULL)

Sample report filters

To see a report of members who have managed SharePoint Workspace accounts that have not been backed up:
