Updated: 2009-04-30

This article introduces a sample application download for Microsoft Office PerformancePoint Server 2007 that lets users open Planning assignments from a Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 or Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 list. By integrating Planning Server with SharePoint® products and technologies, teams can collaborate and work together on projects and objectives from a central location. Planning assignments

One of the functions of Planning Server is to help businesses design and manage their planning, forecasting, and reporting processes. Process management includes defining cycles and their corresponding assignments for use in process workflows. A workflow contains participants, a schedule, and a data-entry form. Workflow participants are contributors—individuals who enter data into the assignment form—and optional reviewers and approvers. For example, by using PerformancePoint Add-in for Excel, a contributor can enter prior month data into a financial statement form, and then an approver can review the new data either accept or reject it.
