Updating, Installing or Uninstalling Lync Server Components After Publishing a New Topology

Topic Last Modified: 2011-12-20

You must perform the following steps on each computer on which a Lync Server 2010 server role is affected by a change (add, remove or update of a server or infrastructure) that requires the publishing of the topology in Topology Builder. You use Lync Server Deployment Wizard to complete the changes defined by the new topology.

Important

When you remove a role or change the configuration of a computer in Topology Builder, the changes must replicate to the servers in your topology. If the replication is not complete, the Lync Server Deployment Wizard may not remove the files and deactivate the server. You must confirm that replication has been successful before proceeding. You may need to run the Lync Server Deployment Wizard again to finish removing any files and to properly deactivate the server. For details, see Confirm Local Configuration Store Replication Status.

To update, remove or modify Lync Server 2010 component files

  1. Log on to the local computer as a member of the Administrators group or Domain Admins group.

    Note

Log on to the computer that you want to update, remove or modify components on servers in the deployment.

  2. Start the Lync Server Deployment Wizard: Click Start, click All Programs, click Microsoft Lync Server 2010, and then click Lync Server Deployment Wizard.

  3. Click Step 2 Setup or Remove Lync Server Components, click Run.

  4. In Setup Lync Server components, click Next. On the Executing Commands page, the summary screen indicates Task status: Completed.

  5. Click Finish, and then click Exit.
