Event ID 59 — Failover Cluster Published Printers Status

You can publish print queues on a failover cluster to Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) so that users can search for printers by location or other attributes. Problems publishing print queues on a failover cluster usually pertain to AD DS permissions for each node of the print server.

Resolve
Apply the correct permissions on the cluster server user account
To resolve this issue, use the following steps:
- Open Active Directory Users and Computers.
- Ensure that the Cluster Name Object (CNO) has Full Control permissions on all virtual computer objects (VCOs).
Verify
To verify that the printer was successfully published or removed from Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS), use the following procedure to search AD DS for the printer:
- Open the Printers folder on a computer that is in the same domain as the print server, and then click Add a printer. The Add a Printer Wizard appears.
- Select A printer that is not attached to my computer (a network printer), and then click Next.
- Click The printer I am looking for is not on this list.
- Select Find a printer in Active Directory, based on location or feature, click Next, and then use the Find Printers dialog box to search Active Directory for the printer.
