Remote Access
Now that you have a home server on your network, you need to configure a few things to access your Windows Home Server Web site from the Internet.
Note
You may need to add services from your broadband provider to use the Remote Access features in Windows Home Server. For more information, see Broadband/ISP Requirements for Remote Access.
The Remote Access page on Windows Home Server Settings helps you configure everything you need to access your Windows Home Server Web site from the Internet.
Windows Home Server helps you with the following:
Turning Remote Access on or off.
By default, Remote Access is turned off. This means that you cannot connect to your Windows Home Server Web site, including your Remote Access Web site, until you turn it on.
Configuring your broadband router.
Windows Home Server attempts to automatically configure your broadband router to forward Web site requests to your home server.
Configuring a domain name for your home server.
Configure a name that uniquely identifies your Windows Home Server Web site on the Internet.
Configuring your Web site settings.
Configure which Web site to display by default and what to display as the Web page headline.
