Microsoft BHOLD FIM Integration Operations Guide
Applies To: Forefront Identity Manager
This operations guide provides configuration and administering information for initial and day-to-day operations of Microsoft® BHOLD FIM Integration, a module of the Microsoft BHOLD Suite Service Pack 1 (SP1). BHOLD FIM Integration extends the Forefront Identity Management 2010 R2 (FIM) portal to give users the ability to request role assignments and to approve the other users’ requests for role assignments. This guide consists of the following sections:
Introduction to administering Microsoft BHOLD FIM Integration provides an overview of BHOLD FIM Integration and the tools it provides to enable role management in your organization. It explains how roles are managed through the FIM Portal and the methods available to you for assigning selected users the ability to approve role assignments for other users.
Administering Microsoft BHOLD FIM Integration lays out objectives for managing roles in your organization and the detailed tasks and procedures to follow to meet those objectives.
When to use this guide
Use this guide when:
You want to configure BHOLD to support any of several methods for designating users to approve role assignments for other users.
You want to create and manage roles that can be assigned to users through the FIM Portal.
This guide assumes a basic understanding of BHOLD Core, how it works, and how your organization uses it in conjunction with FIM to manage identities throughout your organization. Although the procedures provide operator guidance from start to finish, operators must understand how objects in the BHOLD Core role model relate to each other and their purpose, specifically the purpose of roles and how they interact with organizational units (orgunits) and individual users. BHOLD FIM Integration operators who are tasked with the initial configuration of BHOLD Core to support BHOLD FIM Integration must have the ability to use the BHOLD Core portal to make changes to the BHOLD Core role model, including its object types. This is because most administration of BHOLD FIM Integration is performed by using the BHOLD Core portal, rather than through the BHOLD FIM Integration extensions of the FIM Portal.
