Gets the number of columns in the query's SELECT clause.

Property Value

When not positioned in a valid recordset, 0; otherwise, the number of columns in the current record.

Exceptions

Exception type	Condition
InvalidOperationException	There is no current connection to a data source.

Remarks

The result of FieldCount will return the number of columns in the query's SELECT clause, even if 0 rows are returned by the query.

Any public static (Shared in Microsoft Visual Basic) members of this type are thread safe. Any instance members are not guaranteed to be thread safe.
