How to: Install SQL Server Replication Components

This topic describes how to install the Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and 2000 SP3 Replication Components on the computer that is running Internet Information Services (IIS). If your instance of IIS is on a different server than your SQL Server Publisher, you must install the SQL Server Replication Components on the computer that is running IIS.

To install SQL Server 2005 Replication Components

  1. On the computer that is running IIS, insert the SQL Server 2005 CD and run Setup.exe.

  2. In the SQL Server Installation Wizard, on the Components to Install page, click Advanced.

  3. On the Feature Selection page, click Client Components, and then click Connectivity Components to install the SQL Server 2005 replication components.

To install SQL Server 2000 SP3 Replication Components

  1. On the computer that is running IIS, run SQL Server 2000 Replication Components (sql2kensp3a.msi). This installation package can be found in the following directory:

    1. <drive>\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\SmartDevices\SDK\SQL Server\Mobile\v3.0.
    2. The SQL Server 2000 Replication Components are also available on the World Wide Web. For more information, see Microsoft SQL Server Compact Edition Home.
